On Sheffield, just south of the Vic Theatre by about a quarter of a block, ready to start a night of fun and adventure with my friends
I’d just finished working for the evening and a group of us were gathering to head out to a club together
We started in front of the Vic, waiting for the last of the group to cash out and leave. Standing in the light of a nearly full moon, reveling in the cool air and in anticipation of the night ahead. I looked up at the moon over the city street and felt joy in the moment of being part of the group, part of the city, having this life right now.
It’s one of the few times in my life that I felt wanted, accepted
When I was a kid, we moved. A lot. I rarely felt settled or contented or comfortable as a result. This was a moment where I felt I was on the path to all of those things.
