Why Are You There?

My friend David Chavez booked me to perform at the Millennium Park summer series

What Happened in This Moment?

I started beatboxing on the main stage at Millennium Park. The multi phonic sounds boomed out of the 64 speakers. The audience was multi ethnic, multi generational, tourists, and the hard working people of Chicago. People bobbed their heads, clapped, danced to the beatbox harmonica blues. I felt outside of my body watching myself and the few thousand picnickers enjoying my music. I’m never leaving my sweet home Chicago!

What Changed for you because of this moment?

I felt belonging, acceptance, and love from friends, strangers and Lake Michigan!

Why Does Your Memory Hold On To This Moment?

The my favorite place to be is performing live on stage. When my confidence is low, no gigs in the immediate future, questioning everything I’ve done as an artist. Then that moment comes into my mind. My heart fills up and I start to beat…. Box
